Indonesian Science Communication Lab (IDSCL)

adalah grup inisiasi non-profit untuk pengembangan keilmuan, strategi dan praktik komunikasi sains di Indonesia. Berbasis riset dan pengalaman praktis untuk meningkatkan wacana dan partisipasi publik pada sains, dengan mendorong dialog dan proses deliberatif dalam ruang lingkup kajian public engagement of science (PES) dan Science, Technology and Society (STS).

Staff and Leadership

Ilham Akhsanu Ridlo (Founder)

Ilham is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Airlangga in Indonesia. He is currently a Ph.D. at Ludwig Maximilians Universität München. He believes science communication is crucial in bridging the gap between research practice and health policy implementation.

In addition to his daily responsibilities, he is actively involved in the Society of Indonesian Science Journalists (SISJ) as a scientist member, National Association of Science Writers (NASW), and contributes to pop-sci in The Conversation Indonesia and other media outlets.

Rizqy Amelia
Zein (Co-Founder)

Amelia is a PhD student at Ludwig Maximilians Universität München, working on a project investigating how individuals mentally relate scientific and religious explanations. She is also broadly interested in researching health misinformation, conspiracy beliefs, and public attitudes to science.

She is also very passionate about research methods, meta-research, computational reproducibility, psychometrics, and latent variable modeling. Apart from her main responsibility, she determined to independently practice her programming skills.

Dasapta Erwin Irawan (Advisory Member)

Erwin is a researcher based in Indonesia. His main interests are hydrogeology and hydrochemistry. He also often plays around with open-source tools to help identify hydrogeological systems. He is an advocate of open science practices in Indonesia. He is the founder of RINarxiv (Indonesia Preprint Server), and his hobby is to #sketchnote to make it easier for the public to understand complicated science.

Muhammad Galih Widiyanto (Science Communication Coordinator)

Galih is a master’s student in Science Education and Communication at Utrecht University, The Netherlands. Currently conducting a final research project on promoting the Nature of Science to Indonesian students, with a focus on helping them recognize the characteristics of science and pseudoscience. Previously worked as a Managing Editor at Kok Bisa, an Indonesia-based science popular media platform.

Gusti Ayu Ismayanti (Co-Founder)

Isma is a science communicator with a BSc in Oceanography from Institut Teknologi Bandung and an MSc in Science Communication from UCL.
Currently, she is actively involved in content creation at @curious_crunch_, where her passion lies in discussing topics encompassing science, art, and culture. She is also engaged in science media and documentary filmmaking.

Pauline Ciuputri 

Pauline is a Public Health graduate with experience leading social projects and international teams. Achieved 350% revenue growth and more than 500% social media follower increase in projects. Recipient of three merit-based scholarships. Passionate about healthcare, sustainability, environmental issues, and social impact.

Vina Himmatus Sholikhah

Vina is a This is Public Health (TIPH) Global Student Ambassador. She is Indonesia’s representative in the “Science Communication Project Against Misinformation of the COVID-19 Vaccination” project held by the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH). She is currently a research assistant at the centre for patient safety studies at Universitas Airlangga.
